Smartpets Superstore opened its doors to the people of Cavan and its surrounding area in May 2008 and since opening has added an Equestrian section to its 3,000 sq.ft retail superstore in the Corlurgan Bussiness Park on the Ballinagh Road.

Crosserlough native Bryan Gaffney is the man behind this new bussiness venture . "People are taking alot more care of their pets. They are considered a member of the family," comments Bryan.In particular, Bryan feels that there is "massive interest in more exotic pets such as snakes and lizards and exotic birds and fish". Lizards such as the Bearded Dragons, make great pets, they are easily handled and easy to look after. They react to affection and can sit in your lap just like a dog or a cat. Pet snakes are easily handled too. And while none of the snakes in store are poisonus, some such as the Boa, can grow to 11 and a half feet and can live for as long as 30 years if cared for properly.

In addition to exotic pets, Smart pets also have a lage range of more traditional pets such as rabbits, guinea pigs and hamsters not to mention goldfish and terrapins. Regardless of whether you purchase your pet in Smart Pets, the store offers an extensive range of pet food, essentails, accessories and toys.
