The most prominent building on West Street is the impressive modern Gothic style church of St. Peter's. The century old skilled stonemason's work on the limestone exterior is breathtaking. the interio See more. r walls are of Bath Stone and the high altar is made from pure Carera Marble. This church famously houses the national shrine to St. Oliver who was martyred at Tyburn in 1681. His mumified skull is on display. This local saint was born at Loughcrew, near Oldcastle Co.
