The original idea of Ronnie and Lyla Steele was to breed ducks and sell the day-old to Irish growers. As production increased it was decided to build a specialist duck processing factory before Ireland joined the European Community. In 1973 Silver Hill was the first Irish or U.K. poultry or meat factory to be given E.U. approval to export to all E.U. Countries. The Department of Agriculture granted us the registered number of EEC 801, which we still use today.
All aspects of duck production are owned and controlled by Silver Hill Foods.This means that our ducks can be traced from egg to final processing ensuring that our customers receive only the best quality duck.
Since that time the factory has been rebuilt by Stuart Steele and a boning hall and cooking facility has been added.
Over 40 years of good husbandry and breeding experience has resulted in a duck with more breast meat, lower fat content, with the unique Silver Hill taste always to the fore. The ducks are fed on a special all natural formula with no added G.M.O. products.
Our Head on duck is renowned throughout the Chinese Community for its quality; succulent taste and the golden crisp lacquer finish to its flawless skin. Our fully integrated systems allows for the meticulous processing and selection of only the best ducks produced through our unique breeding programme.

You can visit the new Silver Hill Foods Farm Shop, which is situated in the village of Emyvale, Co Monaghan, a welcome addition to the local community and to its parent company Silver Hill Foods.
Chef and head of research and development, Gary McDowell manages the roadside shop which offers a mouth-watering range of duck – from smoked spiced duck breast fillets and honey roast duck to confit of duck leg and duck sausages, among other delicious choices – which Silver Hill is renowned for. You just have to try our beautifully prepared duck in an array of gourmet tastes. The shop proudly displays homemade condiments from Castle Leslie as well as handmade pottery from Busy Bee Ceramics along with other locally produced crafts .So if you happen to be travelling through Emyvale, be sure to stop at the Silver Hill Foods Farm Shop where you can buy some delicious duck as well as a few other locally produced treats.

Our duck down duvets are made from the finest natural materials, which are light and soft for a duvet that will drape around your body with gentleness and warmth. Constructed from 100% cotton, down-proof cambric with a 133 x 100 thread count, our duvets have integrated baffles to eliminate down shifting and ensuring there are no cool zones. Finished with double stitching and German piping edges, these duvets look good, feel good and offer a good nights sleep. Silver Hill Feathers also offer a wide range of cushions and pillows. These are mainly filled with duck feather and down, although for the ultimate in luxury pure down filled are available. As we are manufacturers, we can supply cushions of any size or shape. Our customers are often faced with requests for small amounts of unusual sizes, which we endeavour to help them for fill, with no order being too small or too large.
