Catherine's Story

Catherine’s innate insight and compassion led her to begin a nursing career in London in 2002. Her nursing career spanned over 15 years in many clinical areas throughout the UK, Australia and Ireland.

Catherine’s ethos at Happy Body Acupuncture is to provide a nurturing space where the client feels safe to communicate their individual needs and facilitate their healing and personal growth. Catherine’s rich experience enables education and support through ill health, but also challenges clients to become more personally aware, helping them to unlock their ability to transform their own lives.Catherine maintains her registration as a Nurse with An Bord Altranais. She is also registered with AFPA and IRIL governing bodies for Acupuncture and Reflexology.

Maternity Acupuncture:
We offer expert maternity acupuncture treatments to help treat a wide range of common pregnancy related conditions such as nausea/ vomiting, headache, carpel tunnel syndrome, sciatica, anxiety, depression, constipation and haemorrhoids.
Fertility Acupuncture:
Acupuncture is commonly used in preparation for IVF/ IUI or in combination with consultations and investigations. It is commonly used to help support the body pre and post transfer during IVF.
Cupping:
Cupping is often used with Acupuncture needles to relieve stagnation of qi (Chi) and blood, addressing uncomfortable conditions such as headache, neck and shoulder pain and back pain. It is also very useful for releasing tension created by occupational lifestyle hazards such as stooping and poor sitting posture.

Catherine has been working with the Crocus Cancer Support Centre, Monaghan since 2016 providing Acupuncture to support clients during active Chemotherapy and Radium, before and after surgery, and during recovery. Acupuncture is provided for cancer patients alongside cancer treatment, and as an integral part of their recovery in many leading hospitals and centres in the UK and worldwide.
Moxibustion:
This is a widely practised therapy in Traditional Chinese Medicine, often used for conditions related to digestion, fertility and menstrual issues, pain, sprains and fatigue. It is often successful in helping to turn Breech babies during pregnancy.
