• Arch and foot pain diagnosis (this is a 'biomechanical assessment') and treatment [bring your x-rays or reports if you have any]
• Orthoses (orthotic shoe inserts), both 'best-fit' and 'custom' (Personally made by the podiatrist)
• Veruccae diagnosis and treatment
• Fungal infections and tinea - diagnosis, advice and treatment
• Bunion diagnosis, advice and conservative treatment (i.e. not bunion surgery)
• Diabetic footcare and pediatric footcare
• Treatment for excessively sweaty feet (hyperhidrosis).

Reflexology
What Reflexology Involves

Reflexology is a Complementary Therapy that works on the feet (and hands) using holistic healing techniques.
The aim is to treat the individual as an entity; incorporating body, mind and spirit. Reflexologists do not isolate a disease and treat it symptomatically, nor do they work specifically on a problem organ or system but on the whole person with the object of inducing a state of balance.
Sheila uses a specific pressure technique on reflex points on the foot, based on the premise that reflex areas on the feet correspond with body parts. This causes physiological changes to take place as the body’s own healing potential is stimulated.

On your first visit detailed information about your medical history, lifestyle, diet, emotional state etc is discussed and recorded - confidentiality is respected at all times. You will be made comfortable in a gently reclining chair and kept warm with a fleecy blanket for the duration of the treatment.

At the beginning of the treatment the feet are massaged, this then progresses to fingertip pressure systematically applied to the whole foot. There may be discomfort in some places, but this is usually fleeting, and may be an indication of congestion or imbalance in the body. The overall sensation is usually a pleasant and soothing one. It is not unusual for people to close their eyes and 'drift off' during treatment - this is fine.

At the end of the session an aftercare/treatment plan will be discussed and will be tailored to individual needs; subsequent sessions will last for about 45 mins. It is often beneficial to arrange a series of 5 follow-up treatments to gain maximum benefit; and then beyond that ‘maintenance’ treatments can be planned at regular intervals.
Reflexologists do not diagnose, claim to cure a condition or prescribe in any way. However, treatment may offer some relief from symptoms related to the following conditions:

• Stress related conditions
• Hormonal imblances (PMT/Menopause/fertility issues)
• Digestive disorders
• Respiritory disorders
• Sleep disorders
• ... and many more

Your comfort and feeling treasured is important to me. I see the body as a self healing mechanism and reflexology may be of assistance in promoting the return to good health for numerous conditions. The responses to reflexology sessions are varied and not all conditions are ideal for treatment.
