Fort Dunree was first opened to the public in1986 and has attracted tourists from all over the world. The beautiful landmark is surrounded by exquisite scenery which makes it one of the most predominant tourist attractions in the County of Donegal. It is a must see to every visitor to the Inishowen Penninsula.

FORT DUNREE MILITARY MUSEUM

  • Using the latest DVD and interactive technology the unique history and the present role of Fort Dunree is fully explained and re created in vibrant and colourful displays.
  • A visit to Fort Dunree will include a video film presentation in the audio visual theatre. Full access to the museum display which fully demonstrate life at Fort Dunree, showing its vital role in coastal defence.
  • The underground bunkers also house a collection of artefacts that give insight into the day to running of the Fort.

WALKS

Walking around Dunree Point is undoubtedly the highlight of the visit to the Inishowen Peninsula. A serious of signposted footpaths allow the visitor to explore at their own pace. Detailed information boards, shelters, picnic tables and benches help to create a memorable experience whether you are a first time visitor tp .

SCENERY
 
One of the most breathe taking aspects of Fort Dunree is the scenery in which it is set. It is this alone that makes Fort Dunree a must see for anyone visiting Donegal.
